I like this unit. Have had it for several months and seems to be a good deal. Not too much complexity to set up and run as it’s not a NAS. My only issue is that there is no ‘loop thru’ USB3 port so it takes up a valuable (limited) computer port. Otherwise, I’d probably convert all my other external drives to this type! Perhaps I’ll eventually get a high performance usb3/thunderbolt hub?1) Fails with a Thunderbolt2 to thunderbolt3 adapter. Yes this is mentioned but easy to miss... seems like a poor design to me. - accessing drives appears to function, but with use the drive disconnects.2) Limited functionality... I tested JBOD and Raid0 functions in the mode selected. Accessing the individual drives or the Raid0 configuration functions correctly. So why is it "limited" - Software raid setup on the JBOD fails... reboots immediately - this occurs with "Apple Raid" or "Soft Raid"Again I would say again a bad design. I did not test the Raid1 functionality, other reviews said there were issues with raid failures and rebuild.I will continue to use this drive in a Raid0 configuration as a backup drive.I have other backups on more reliable media so this use is not critical. This product gets my personal 5-9’s, (99.999%), nearly-perfect rating. I just wonder if it could be slightly improved by the addition of the same silicone-sleeve that the mobile, mechanical, spinny-disk models come with to further increase ruggedness? I mean, I know this model with the SSD’s isn’t nearly as subject to shock as the “Winchester Disk,” (legacy, classic name for mechanical hard drives, like “Kleenex” is to facial tissue), models, but it might make me feel a bit better about carrying around a $2,100 drive. I doubt it will affect heat, as this thing runs cool. 1-MONTH OLD: UPDATE: I’m an old, perfectionist-type I.T. guy, and I just can’t find anything bad about my Oyen MiniPro RAID 16TB USB. It even works great with my Netgear Router, “ReadyShare,” which can be somewhat finicky about the USB device you plug into it. So there it serves as my Network’s super-fast multimedia/gaming storage, (who needs a big ol’ RAID server?) when we head out on a trip it goes with us. Fast, cool, compatible, spacious, rugged...I can’t think of anything bad to say about it. Thanks Oyen! :-). Oh, and the Wife even likes the looks of it! LOL UPDATE 07/17/2022: I did have the RAID crash, erasing all the data, but I’m not sure it was the drive’s fault. I called tech support, which was excellent and very accessible, who convinced me to change my RAID configuration from “BIG” to “RAID0” for speed. It’s been running fine since. Being in I.T., I do have several backups of my data in different locations. I bought a 2nd drive as our first 16TB drive we use for media is full. I was archiving all our older multimedia, and expect our growth curve to flatten from here on out. So we’re very happy with Oyen Digital!!!I just purchased a 3rd unit of this type from the same vendor. I did so because the first unit I had purchased 20 months ago bit the dust. The 2nd unit I purchased one year ago is still operational. The device is primarily a solid state unit and solid state equipment should last far longer than 20 months. I have a multitude of solid state drives in a variety of servers & work stations. All of them are running in RAID 1 configs. Some of them have been chugging away for 5+ years; & I have yet to have one go bad.Nonetheless, I decided to gamble & purchase a 3rd unit to replace the 1st one even though I noticed a number of other reviews where the devices have failed after short periods of time. Frankly, the only reason I did so was because of the price point. If another unit goes bad within the next 5 years, I'll bite the bullet and pony up the extra dollars for what will hopefully be a higher quality device.I have been switching from a PC to the new Mac mini and wanted a new raid box for the new system. After searching many possibilities the Mini Pro Raid V3 seemed like a great choice. First I had to change the file type of all my files on the PC. I copied the old raid into a 4TB HDD formatted as XFAT.This new raid box is 1/5 the size of the old one and very well made. I ordered one with 10TB of storage and prepared it as RAID 1 (mirrored) to copy my 2TB files into. The process was very straight forward and the unit mounted perfectly. There was one glitch, totally mine! Only one light (HDD) was flashing and I contacted their support. I received an immediate email with instructions. I HADN'T HELD THE RESET BUTTON QUITE LONG ENOUGH. The support person helped me through reinitializing the unit on the Mac mini (I never had a Mac before) and all is perfect again. This is a great alternative to a huge RAID enclosure and I am very satisfied! This drive worked great for about 2 years although there seems to be strange power issues with the adapter and USB power. It seems to draw power on the USB interface even with it switched to DC power and plugged into the wall. Now it seems it won’t power on and just shuts off and I believe it has died.Yes, this a portable drive that can be used as a hardware controlled 4TB RAID 1. It is very portable and if you run it from a Thunderbolt 3 port, it can be bus powered and you will not need an additional power adapter. There are switches for bus power and for RAID Mode. The housing is aluminum and feels solid. I may have a new version that hides the screws to access the twin drives underneath the rubberized foot pads, but I would assume that it would be relatively straight forward to change the drives. One day when I go full money bags mode, I'll be able to replace the disc drives with SSD's, but for now, the transfer rate of ~150 MB/s isn't half bad and works for most purposes. It slows down with smaller files to as low as 40 MB/s, which is not horrible, but not stellar either. The drive is formatted as exFAT for compatibility between my Mac and PC. It comes with a USB-C/ Thunderbolt 3 to USB 3.0/3.1 A (normal shape) adapter, a USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 (both sides) cable, and a power adapter. Instructions are easy enough to follow. Only had it a little while but so far so good really easy to set up using raid 1
