I don't leave a ton of reviews but this blew me away and it deserves a long, detailed, honest review from a card-carrying nerd and a diehard Mac fan that's been using them for 38 years and has owned 9 since 1997.Not sure why one of the reviewers had a difficult time getting this dock to work with MacBook Pros. This worked perfectly first with an M1 MacBook Air, and now with my new M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14. All my Thunderbolt gear and literally everything else I have plugged into this beast is now running at full speed without disconnects.I wanted to switch from a Thunderbolt cable with my LG 34WK95U display (I don't think Thunderbolt displays are quite there yet, too many issues) so I'm using the 1.4 DisplayPort and everything has been smooth sailing; 60Hz, 5120x2160 5K2K resolution. I'm running two ThunderBay RAID systems totaling 32TB from the Thunderbolt out of this docking station to an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter, daisy-chained, terminating with an OWC Thunderbolt Drive Dock with another 3TB HDD and a 525GB Crucial SSD for Time Machine backups of my internal startup SSD. Works flawlessly.I have a USB out going to my monitor stand which has 3 USB-A ports, a USB-C port, a wireless charger for my iPhone, plus more card readers which I don't use. Another USB port is for charging my Watch, and another for my iPad.Not sure why the other gentleman had an issue with the ethernet port showing up as USB in Mac's System Preferences; that's normal. And it's not a 10-gigabit port, it's 10/100/1000, so you're not going to get speeds over 1000gbps. I pay Comcast for 600mbps and I consistently get ~680mbps using ethernet from this fantastic dock and my ARRIS DOCSIS 3.1 modem > Eero 6 Pro router. (I "only" get 500-600mbps via wifi with the M1 Air or 14" Pro. Still fast.)I did hours and hours of research and had it down to a few different docks and I was leaning toward the one from OWC — because I've been doing business with them for two decades and I trust them completely — but this dock was more than $100 cheaper and it had more of everything. Amazon handles returns well, so I figures I would give it a shot, be disappointed when nothing worked right, then I'd send it back for a full refund. So I was shocked when this thing performed flawlessly from day one and is still going strong 11 days later. So if you have a M1 MacBook Pro 14" or an M1 MacBook Air, do not hesitate — BUY THIS DOCK NOW. I guarantee you will be happy with your purchase and be ecstatic about the $100+ dollars you saved. And hey, if it doesn't work out, send it back and get a refund; no harm, no foul.*** IMPORTANT!: Make sure you USE ONLY USB-C CABLES TAGGED AS 40GBPS, or you'll have nothing but issues. Better yet, use legit, CERTIFIED, EXPENSIVE, REAL THUNDERBOLT 3+ CABLES. If you use any other kind of USB-C cable, you will not get full 40gbps throughput and your speeds will not reach anywhere near what this dock and your M1 MacBook or recent Intel MacBook can give you.no admite thunderbolt 4Works great so far, fast speeds and solid connection. Using with M1 Mac Mini for music production.Only had it a few hours but it does EXACTLY what I need – switch my Apple Thunderbolt display & peripherals between my new M1 (Thunderbolt 4) machine and my old ~2016 MacBook Pro w/ Thunderbolt 2. If you have a setup like this, a Thunderbolt 4 dock WILL NOT help you – you need a Thunderbolt 3 dock like this one, which is forward- & backward-compatible to TB4 & TB2.It also seems to play nice with my Razer Kiyo Pro webcam, which is pretty picky about having full USB3 connectivity.Throws off a bit of heat but that's no surprise.I have used the product for about a month and so far it works well. I just tried to use the wired network port and it does not appear on my computer so that it can be used.Update Review (6/9/2022)I am experiencing issues with the Ethernet port and all of the USB ports. They will stop working sporadically. The only way to regain the use of these ports is to unplug the upstream TB3 cable or power cycle the dock. I have noticed this condition when playing games like World of Tanks Blitz.I've sent some emails to their support group seeking help. I will update this review when I hear back from them. For now, I am changing my rating from 5 stars to 3.(Original review)I've found this to occur when playing games like World of Tanks Blitz.I am impressed with the Thunderbolt 3 docking station. It meets my needs for my 2021 MacBook Pro 16 with a M1 Pro CPU. Currently, I am only using it with one display via the Thunderbolt 3 port. There are a number of reasons I bought this dock: Plug and Play (no drivers needed), support for two 4K monitors @ 60Hz, vertical form factor, and a reasonable price. I enjoy the variety and number of the USB ports including the USB 2 ports that I use for my Microsoft SideWinder X4 keyboard and Corsair WiFi mouse. This is a great little device. 4K output = no problem. Thunderbolt charging = no problem. NIC = no problem. However after 2 months of no problems and perfect running, the dock now causes my laptop to reboot intermittently. If I connect the laptop to the dock via Thunderbolt, in about 2 minutes laptop reboots by itself - disconnect it and no auto-reboot. Laptop also doesn't have any problems with the regular Dell charger and the Dell TB dock so I am assuming something went wrong inside the TB.I can't get any support from the manufacturer - they have a simple shopify looking website with no tech-support links. I'll update if the behavior changes (maybe it'll feel better after a rest?!?)[Addendum 2/23/2022] Somebody from their customer service team contacted me - they seem like nice people. By now I am using the dock as an actual dock in the configuration below and it's working perfectly fine, no more reboots.- Monitor TB to Dock's TB "in"- Dock's TB out to laptop's TB port- DP from Dock to Monitor. 38" ultrawide running at ~4K 60Hz- With this configuration monitor is also working as a USB hub as well. I have two peripherals connected to USB ports on the monitor. Monitor (LG) has speakers on it and they are functioning as sound output as well!!! (I think display port carries sound)- Two more USB peripherals connected to the dock connected to other devices. So, I'm still getting 100% out of this dock no matter what. And for the money, this dock is still the best bang for the buck. I'd definitely buy it again. If you have an Ipad pro 5th generation (2021) or higher, don't bother, this thing does not work. Tries 4 different HDMI cables, on three separate TV's and nothing.Amazing build qualityWorks with any USBC charging cable as long as it has the same power output as originally licensed chargerOverall happy with my purchaseWorks great to send video from my phone (OnePlus 7 Pro) to my video projector. Plug and play, good size, good picture.attempted to use this with a game capture card and it did not workWorks perfectly with a Nintendo Switch (V2 Mariko)
